from Allen Ginsberg – Howl on Rap Genius

Paterson, New Jersey, a town where Ginsberg spent time as a child.

The town also lent its name to another famous poem, the book-length Paterson, by William Carlos Williams (who wrote the Introduction to the first edition of Howl).

It was a town with a large Jewish community and where there was a Beat following, which must have influenced Ginsberg.
