An iced drink containing an alcoholic spirit like whiskey, plus water or a carbonated beverage like soda. Usually the most common form of drink served by a bartender. Some more common highballs include: Bloody Mary, Gin and Tonic, Long Island Iced Tea, Screwdriver, and Salty Dog. Today, when ordering a drink it is more proper to use the common names instead of just saying ‘a highball,’ since there are so many different varieties.
