Poetry Genius Contributors: Who's your favorite rapper?

So this is partially inspired by the bomb topic– basically I’m really interested to know how much rap our contributors listen to, and if they have any favorites.

KRS-ONE!
Remember when edgar allen poe tried to make an onomatopoeia poem about bells?

Then do you remember when KRS-ONE schooled him at his own game?

I’ve been listening to rap for quite a long time, but I go through phases. Sometimes I listen to more rock than rap, or vice versa.

I like Raekwon and Ghostface Killah a lot. My favorite rapper is usually either one of them, depending on my mood.

Really hard to say, depends on my mood. Some days Hov, some days Kendrick, some days Killer Mike, some days Bun B, etc.

I really can’t say I have a definitive favorite.

Although in my actual rapping style, I sometimes hear some Bun B in the gruffness/raggedness of my delivery

I love Jay Z, Kanye, Childish Gambino and Chance! But mostly Kanye. He’s a genius.

Luhh dis convo!

I feel like my favorite rappers change week 2 week, but some right now for me are 100s, T.I., Chance, Danny Brown, Freddie Gibbs, and RATKING.

Just as literature can evoke a feeling of sense, familiarity, and place SO vividly, RATKING evokes New York in their debut album.

A pretty huge slice of the pie of my listening behavior is dedicated to hiphop. Slug, Kanye West and Kendrick Lamar are possibly my top 3, and I do also very much enjoy P.O.S, EL-P, Dessa, Grieves, Aesop Rock, and outside the backpack indie hiphop stuff Eminem and Drake.

Hova & Yeezy f'sho. (In spite/because of his puerile and indignant behavior, I will always have mad respect & love for Ye – powered me through some rough times.) Wu-Tang, The Streets, Bushido, X Plastaz, M.I.A., and Jean Grae are staples. But, taking into account what @Jhanna said, the periph changes for me pretty frequently. (Also, shouts to @dalmo & his sweet Minaj luvvv!)

My list is almost identical to @Xia-Dawn’s list.

And since he still hasn’t been mentioned here, may I say that Immortal Technique has written some poetic verses?

I’d like to shout out @shayduk - Rapper who organises regular Poetry events in London.

I went to it last year, representing RGUK. It was excellent.
