About Sir Arthur Conan Doyle

Sir Arthur Conan Doyle was a British writer who is best known as the creator of the famous fictional detective – “Sherlock Holmes”. He studied medicine at the Edinburgh University.

He used to work as a physician on a ship but when he could not make much money through medical profession, he started writing for the Strand Magazine. In 1887, his first Sherlock Holmes story, “A Study in Scarlet”, was published. He wrote 59 more such stories—which brought him worldwide fame.

Apart from Sherlock Holmes Doyle also wrote science-fiction stories about Professor Challenger. He also wrote many fantasies, romances, plays and poems.

Doyle died of a heart attack on 7 July, 1930 inside his house.
