Aristophanes (Playwright)

About Aristophanes (Playwright)

Aristophanes (c. 446- c. 386 B.C.) is considered the foremost comic playwright of ancient Greece. Eleven of his 40 plays (including The Clouds, The Birds, The Frogs, and Lysistrata) survive mostly intact, and they are virtually the only examples known to us of the comedy of the time.
