Good example of the way corporate interests / PR companies can undermine the objectivity of Wikipedia. This is absolutely the way King want their game to be described, whereas in reality it is a pay-to-progress game.

Yes and no. I admit that I am an addict, all the way at the top, and never spent a dime. I do know many who do, though pay to advance themselves, and that’s sad, but not ubiquitous in CC world.

In my humble and not especially informed opinion, not enough scholars do this, at least successfully. I’m not sure I can think of any contemporaries (tho there is an awesome essay by Stefan Collini where he absolutely fucking rocks the euphemism “level playing field” viz. social mobility in the LRB)— Derrida, obviously, invented his own terms when he needed them but that’s more of a philosophical thing, I guess.
