Absol, really cool mythology, dark was always my favorite type, plus it’s a vaguley amusing homophone for a certain rapper

He balls so hard. As Brit it’s so weird to see such a great man at the helm of a country

I know this point has been made elsewhere but I have to make it out of personal catharsis: this is the ugliest conceit I’ve heard in a long long time. And I go to poetry readings. It feels like what happens when the siblings personal brand and clickbait meet, they put on “serious longform” outfits, and fuck.

I can’t really add anything to the analysis provided my the other annotators here, who know American history and Obama’s place in it far better than me, so I did some digging on Magnet’s publication history.

He wrote the following book, which claims that Charles Dickens was a social conservative:

I found this pretty telling. I’m no Dickens expert, but the novels of his that I’ve read care deeply, in their outmoded, Victorian way about social justice and are full of brutal satire about the class system, the machinery of justice etc. Literature, it could be argued, exists to make us realize that people act on a range of ethical beliefs, and to appropriate Dickens to this brand of white dude regressionism in 280 pages seems like a pretty pathetic whimper.

I shan’t be reading anything else by Mr. Magnet.

I don’t see this as a huge breakthrough. I can search something in Google on my phone in the time limit given by quiz machines in pubs. And as anyone who’s been to a semi-famous gallery will know, phones pretty much destroy any sense of engagement with works of art.

I disagree. The success of Pokémon Go is because, imo, the AR system meshes so well with the fundamental premise of Pokémon, and the fact that the game was a juggernaut franchise to begin with, and all the people who used to play it on Game Boys have now grown up and rock insanely powerful smartphones.

To expand: Pokémon is ostensibly an RPG, but it’s fundamentally a game of wandering around and catching cool Pokémon. What’s cooler, and more elegant, than just chucking that game model into the real world? Moreover, we remember the things we were into when we were young. When we can play them again, and they’re on crack, well, that’s gonna command a huge amount of attention.

So the effects of the server crashing have the potential to be equivalently catastrophic to a financial crash? That would be pretty exciting.
