She promised him that she was going to ditch her man for him, and then didn’t follow through with the promise. Much like a cornflake might let you down.

There’s a play on words between “cornflake” and “flaky” as in fickle or unreliable.

A “settee” is a couch, in British slang. Tim’s contrasting himself with Terry, who goes out onto the streets and causes damage beating people up and spitting at cops.

He makes a reference to his own backing, as he does later in the album on Weak Become Heroes with “that same piano loops over and over and over”.

A pun on a cash pick up for a deal (usually for hostages), and a joke card game called Fifty-two pick up where one person throws a pack of cards into the air and the other person has to pick them up.
