Cadillac Records was a 2008 movie about that legendary label’s roster and inner workings. The movie featured Jeffrey Wright as Muddy Waters, Beyoncé as Etta James, Columbus Short as Little Walter, Yasiin Bey as Chuck Berry, and Eamon Walker as Howlin' Wolf and the soundtrack includes their performances of some of the greatest songs of all time. The soundtrack also includes new original songs from Solange, Nas, and others.

These lines echo the famous lines from Rihanna’s “FourFiveSeconds,”

“Cause all of my kindness
Is taken for weakness”

Even if people misinterpret Abel’s kindness, his performance is going to show them what’s really up. Gangster Al Capone is sometimes credited with saying “Don’t mistake my kindness for weakness. I am kind to everyone but when someone is unkind to me, weak is not what your going to remember about me.” However, the quote’s never been verified.

The Weeknd had previously tweeted the lyrics to the song before it dropped. He’s notorious for hinting and tweeting lyrics to future music.
