Kanjia is a phenomenal, talented singer who first came on the secene with Murphy Lee and the St. Lunatics at their height of fame, and has several collaborations with that crew. He now lives in DC and is a dope, soulful singer.

Bradstreet’s brother-in-law, John Woodbridge, “snatched” her poetry and took it to England to be published without her permission. “Less wise than true” at once acknowledges his betrayal and entrepreneurship.

The opening apostrophe addresses the speaker’s baby which is a metaphor for her book of poems. The speaker’s book of poems which she birthed herself was taken away from her by friends. Her friends made her book visible to a great mass of society. The speaker refers to her friends as “less wise than true” (3) most probably because her book was not ready to be seen. However, it can be implied that her friends only had good intentions and believed her work to be ready to go “abroad” and “exposed to the public”. Lines 3-4 is also an example of a heroic couplet. If one wanted to read this poem as an experience of the poet’s life, a justifiable stance can be made for this poem. In real life, Bradstreet had her collection of poems The Tenth Muse Lately Sprung Up in America published without her permission by her brother-in-law, Rev. John Woodbridge. This poem is a description of the feelings of paranoia and urge to edit that Bradstreet felt when she came upon to know her poems were published.
