“Peter Piper picked a peck of pickled peppers” is one of the best known tongue twisters out there, so Big Boi is showing off his lyrical dexterity right from the start. As for the actual meaning of the line, Big Boi is saying that Peter Pepper’s downfall was caused by choosing to associate himself with a “pepper head” – a derogatory term for females. Given the fact this song is about surrounding yourself with the right people, this interpretation makes sense.

This is one of Lord Byron’s most serious and emotional poems. Lord Byron is well known for his poems such as Don Juan – which is a comedic epic — but here the restraint and feelings of sorrow are all the more potent because of the lack of typical Byron rebelliousness.

Today, ‘When We Two Parted’ is one of his most loved poems.

Structure
The poem, supposedly, originally contained a fifth stanza, which named the recipient of the poem ‘Fanny’. — that is, ‘Lady Frances Webster’.

The definitive version, as printed here, comprises four stanzas of eight lines each. The line lengths alternate between six syllables and five syllables (irregular meter), to create a relentless, stressed rhythm, through which the sad subject matter and the grief of the poet are clearly conveyed.

The rhyme scheme is ABABCDCD, repeated in each stanza. Despite the regularity of the structure and the self-controlled grief, there is a sense that the poet could explode with anger.

The poem follows a cyclical structure; the end of the poem links to the beginning. This perhaps alludes to Byron’s ongoing misery– despite the fracture of his relationship not being recent, his grief doesn’t cease.

Language and Imagery
The language is simple, mostly monosyllabic. The voice is the first person, belonging to the poet, and addressing his lost love in the old form of the second person ‘thy’. The story is also simple and therefore effective. There are few similes or metaphors, apart from the ‘dew of the morning’ which suggests the sadness of an empty new day and ‘knell’ which suggests death. Those apart there is little in the way of poetic devices. But then nothing more is needed to add to the impact of this sad poem.

Context: The poem is generally believed to be about Lady Frances Wedderburn Webster. Byron is believed to have written it when he heard she had taken the Duke of Wellington as her new lover (McCarthy, p. 327 and McGann, p. 191).
According to MacCarthy, the final censored stanza read:

‘Then fare thee well, Fanny,
Now doubly undone,
To prove false unto many
As faithless to one.
Thou are past all recalling
Even would I recall,
For the woman once falling
Forever must fall.’

This is an AK-47:

AK-47 is also a type of dank weed that’s named after the above gun for its potent kick, hence the need for a shoulder brace (or a stock in gun terms); this is more likely to be the “AK-47” 2 Chainz is referencing considering the rest of the verse.

The “trap” is a place in the inner city where drugs are stored and sold. But André compares this to an actual trap intended to catch the unsuspecting because it often traps the urban youth into a life of crime.

Big Boi has a similar line on “SpottieOttieDopaliscious”:

So now you back in the trap just that, trapped
Go on and marinate on that for a minute

No one started paying attention to America’s drug problem until it started to affect the white middle-class. People expect urban youths to use drugs because they are often viewed as less intelligent or ambitious. But when middle-class white kids start using, power figures assume there must be something wrong with society; their perfect little kids would never do something like that.

“Rehab too crowded” refers to how the middle-class was not prepared for this problem to reach them. They had a few rehab centers set up for the ghetto kids with drug habits, but never anticipated having to deal with this problem reaching the upper classes.

Eminem has a similar line on his song “The Way I Am” , except he addresses how politicians don’t pay attention to violence until it reaches the middle-class:

Where were the parents at? And look where it’s at
Middle America, now it’s a tragedy
Now it’s so sad to see, an upper class city
Havin' this happening"

Gil Scott attempted to use his popularity to enlighten the average American as to what was going on in the inner city, specifically the violence and drug use. But unfortunately, despite his attempts to spread awareness in the 1970’s, the 1980’s crack epidemic still took place in the impoverished urban areas that Scott-Heron warned us we had to pay attention to.
