Bradapalooza a.k.a. The Black Mage a.k.a. A. B. Schmidt.

I’ve had the Bradapalooza tag since I joined the internet – so for a very long time. Back in the day, -=palooza=- was a pretty exclusive group with a small number of members, so it’s like a family last name. It also means an intense party of the thing it’s a suffix too – as in I’m just the most Brad of any Brads there are.

The Black Mage is for another tate.

A. B. Schmidt is my verified name. The B is for Bradapalooza.

Essentially a reimagining of Kurosawa’s Seven Samurai, 13 Assassins is modern film techniques with thirteen badass samurais. Very violent – but an awesome film overall. Highly recommended.

Great for talking films with, blessed with humility, and passionate and driven enough to handle one of the best tags on Genius. It’s incredibly rare to see someone like Heisenferg, who’s accomplished so much, still stay humble and willing to listen to the advice of others, despite the fact he doles out information to anyone who wants to join Screen Genius all the time.

The Black Mage declares him:

One of a handful of poets active of Genius that’s constantly seeking feedback and ways to improve his own work – he’s the spoken word guy for poetry and has a solid ear for weaving rhythms together.

He’s pretty okay at Literature sometimes. His hair game might not be on par with mine but he’s seriously one of the best community leaders on the site and Lit wouldn’t be half as good as it is without him.

Slickk can take abuse like a stoic statue even when people attack him from every corner. It’s seriously impressive and I applaud his patience. Active, hard-working, and aware – he has everything needed to be a fantastic, standout member of the site, and the longer he stays a mod, the more he’s learned to adjust from his rougher traits and improve.

And seriously, he can take abuse like nobody’s business.

A young man with strong filmic potential, and that’s augmented because Benny listens when it comes to film advice and recommendations! He’s precocious. He makes great observations and is one of the greatest people to just fling ideas at and see what manages to stick.

Obviously I have multiple spirit animals, since all Black Magi need at least twenty animal sacrifices to be born into this world.

For a shortlist, my animals include:

A GOAT

A cat:

And Tom Cruise:

There are many metaphors of artists contributing to the canon with this general sense, but perhaps this is an echo of the way Shelley presents the spirit of Keats in Adonais:

XLII
He is made one with Nature: there is heard
His voice in all her music, from the moan
Of thunder, to the song of night’s sweet bird;
He is a presence to be felt and known
In darkness and in light, from herb and stone,
Spreading itself where'er that Power may move
Which has withdrawn his being to its own;
Which wields the world with never-wearied love,
Sustains it from beneath, and kindles it above.

XLIII.
He is a portion of the loveliness
Which once he made more lovely: he doth bear
His part, while the one Spirit’s plastic stress
Sweeps through the dull dense world, compelling there
All new successions to the forms they wear;
Torturing th' unwilling dross that checks its flight
To its own likeness, as each mass may bear;
And bursting in its beauty and its might
From trees and beasts and men into the Heaven’s light.

XLIV.
The splendours of the firmament of time
May be eclipsed, but are extinguished not;
Like stars to their appointed height they climb,
And death is a low mist which cannot blot
The brightness it may veil. When lofty thought
Lifts a young heart above its mortal lair,
And love and life contend in it, for what
Shall be its earthly doom, the dead live there
And move like winds of light on dark and stormy air.

By creating a poem, Glück is adding to the firmament of time and making the mountain of the past great poets even taller.
