The Passionate Pilgrim was an octavo anthology of 20 sonnets published by William Jaggard in 1599. Although attributed to “W. Shakespeare,” only five of the poems are definitely written by the Stratford Bard. Versions of two of these were later published in Shakespeare’s 1609 Sonnets and three feature in Love’s Labour’s Lost. Sonnets by Richard Barfield, Bartholomew Griffin, Christopher Marlowe, and Sir Walter Raleigh are also included in the volume.
