Henry VI Part 2

1 Henry VI was probably the earliest play of the first tetralogy to be written, and begins in medias res, as the conflict with France takes a back seat, the Duke of Gloucester’s antagonists murder him, and the Duke of York, Richard Plantagenet, stakes his claim for the throne.

Other points of interest include Shakespeare delving into the supernatural for the first time, with Simon Simpcox claiming to have had his blindness cured by a miracle, and the dramatically potent rebellion of Jack Cade.
