Tess of the d'Urbevilles: A Pure Woman Faithfully Presented is one of Hardy’s most controversial novels which was originally published in The Graphic newspaper throughout 1891 and eventually as a novel in 1892.
When it was first published, the sexual themes and social criticism divided critics but nowadays they’ve cemented it as a staple of English Literature study.
