The Return of Sherlock Holmes

Sir Arthur Conan Doyle

About “The Return of Sherlock Holmes”

Following the success of Conan Doyle’s The Hound of the Baskervilles, the American magazine Collier’s extended an offer to Arthur Conan Doyle for him to resurrect the character of Sherlock Holmes. The author accepted, and the new stories were henceforth published in America a month before they were printed in the Strand magazine in Britain. This arrangement persisted through the end of the Holmes stories.
