“Little Demon” was one of multiple 7-inch singles released by Frank Ocean in late 2019, following his PrEP+ club night events in New York City.
The single first surfaced at Ocean’s third PrEP+ club night on October 31, 2019, where Arca performed the B-side remix featuring the rapper Skepta to a small audience of clubgoers.
On November 3, Ocean premiered the remix on episode 009 of blonded RADIO, his internet radio show on Beats 1 (now Apple Music 1), and a pre-order for the 7-inch vinyl launched on blonded.co.
On February 26, 2020, fans who ordered the vinyl were informed instead of receiving the “Little Demon” single as expected, the 7-inch release will feature “a new, unreleased Frank Ocean song” (presumably “These Days”). Unfortunately, the anticipated replacement never materialized. On December 3, blonded announced they would not release the vinyl due to the unforeseen events of 2020 and issued refunds for the remaining orders.
Following Arca’s performance at Frank Ocean’s PrEP+ club night event and the single’s debut on episode 009 of blonded RADIO, the 7" vinyl for “Little Demon” became available for purchase on blonded.co on November 3, 2019, and expected to ship in 8–12 weeks; however, due to the outbreak of COVID-19, Blonded postponed the vinyl’s release in February 2020, providing customers the option to cancel their order or substitute their purchase with another to-be-announced 7" single (presumably “These Days”). Unfortunately, the anticipated replacement never materialized.
On December 3, 2020, blonded announced they would not release the vinyl due to the unforeseen events of 2020 and issued refunds for the remaining orders.
The title, “Little Demon,” is derived from the literary device known as a “shoulder devil,” used in literature and film to depict the inner conflict of a character’s conscience, often in the form of an imaginary devil resting upon a character’s shoulder, advising them on how to act.
The 7" vinyl sold for $15.00, available for purchase on blonded.co on November 3, 2019. All orders were refunded by December 2020.
