I Told You I Was Trouble: Live in London was first released on November 5, 2007 as a live film of Winehouse’s iconic May 2007 performance at Shepherd Bush Empire in London. Despite being rescheduled twice, the performance drew a sold-out show, with the likes of Elton John and Noel Gallagher attending.
On February 5, 2021, the first four tracks were surprise released to streaming platforms, with Winehouse’s management announcing that the remaining tracks would be released as four-track EP’s each Friday thereafter.
I Told You I Was Trouble: Live in London was nominated for Best Music DVD at the 2008 NME Awards, but it did not win the award.
Of the six NME Award nominations that Winehouse received throughout her career, this is only one of the two celebratory ones – in both 2008 and 2009, Winehouse was nominated for Villain of the Year and Worst Dressed Performer, unfortunately winning the latter both years in a row.
