Religion makes you blind, but Jesus makes you see
Trying to be technically right on every point causes you focus on the wrong thing and miss what is really important. Jesus says focus on me and my love for you. Be open to me and you can be set free.
Matthew 13:13-16 says:
13 This is why I [Jesus] speak to them in parables:
“Though seeing, they do not see;
though hearing, they do not hear or understand.
14 In them is fulfilled the prophecy of Isaiah:
“‘You will be ever hearing but never understanding;
You will be ever seeing but never perceiving.
15 For this people’s heart has become calloused;
they hardly hear with their ears,
and they have closed their eyes.
Otherwise they might see with their eyes,
hear with their ears,
understand with their hearts
and turn, and I would heal them.
Also, Galatians 5:1 NIV says:
1 It is for freedom that Christ has set us free. Stand firm, then, and do not let yourselves be burdened again by a yoke of slavery.
