Beloved is not the only Morrison novel that has been frequently challenged for its “offensive” content. A recent viral blog post by self-styled “Oregon PolitiChick” Macey France accused Morrison’s The Bluest Eye—currently on the list of Common Core exemplar texts for American 11th graders—of being “Common Core Approved Child Pornography.”
