5. And Tango Makes Three, by Peter Parnell and Justin Richardson.
Reasons: Homosexuality, unsuited for age group
And Tango Makes Three is a children’s book based on the true story of two male penguin lovers in Central Park Zoo.
Since its publication in 2005, it’s been a bane of right-wing fundamentalists who believe homosexuality goes “against nature” and aren’t amused by evidence to the contrary. (Just because those penguins gave in to Satan doesn’t mean our children should be allowed to do the same.)
