Pound it out.
The number sign, a.k.a. the pound sign (in the U.S. and Canada; in the UK, pound sign refers to the currency symbol, £ or ₤), a.k.a. the hash, has traditionally been used to designate a number (or to stand in for the word “number”). It’s also used by proofreaders to indicate where a space should be inserted in a text.
These days, it’s mainly used in the ubiquitous art of hashtagging, making it the preferred punctuation mark of Twitterers and assholes.
