Tin andra, tin eroa, tina theon,
What god, man, or hero
Shall I place a tin wreath upon?
This is a reference to the Ancient Greek lyric poet Pindar’s Second Olympian Ode, composed for the Sicilian tyrant Theron, which has these lines near the beginning. He’s also punning on the Greek word τίν (the pronoun “what” in “what god, what hero, what man”) and the metal tin.
