Armistice, in reference to wars, is when the two parties agree to stop fighting; in other words, they agree to a truce. The Armistice, in this instance, refers to the Armistice of World War I in 1918. World War I was between the Allies and Germany, and the Armistice was in effect on November 11th, 1918 at 11 AM.
Today, Armistice Day is celebrated to commemorate armistice and to remember those who lost their lives in the War.
