Ecclesiastes 3:2: A time to be born, and a time to die;
This verse sets up a pattern for the subsequent verses: a series of contrasting extremes, done in a sort of “tit for tat” fashion. “To be born” is the opposite of “to die,” “to weep” is the opposite of “to laugh,” and so on.
Ecclesiastes 3 is all about accepting that there is a time, place, and purpose for everything, as deemed by God.
In 1965, The Byrds famously released a song entitled, “Turn! Turn! Turn!”, which incorporated the verse from Ecclesiastes 3 into lyrics.
Also sampled by Modernist poet, T.S. Eliot in The Love Song of J. Alfred Prufrock
