What profit hath a man of all his labor which he taketh under the sun?
The fortunes this world has to offer us can be worked for but will not benefit a man in any way. Once life is over, all worldly things will come to an end — the only thing that comes with you to be judged is the relationship you have with God. You can spend all your days looking for satisfaction in money, wisdom and fame but they will only add to your pride and it will not make you a better person.
Under the sun is used to imply a boundary between earthly and heavenly things. We need to surpass what this world has to offer.
