It was evidenced sublimely in the refusal of Shadrach, Meshach and Abednego to obey the laws of Nebuchadnezzar

from Martin Luther King, Jr – Letter From Birmingham Jail on Rap Genius

In chapter three of The Book of Daniel, there is a story of King Nebuchadnezzar II who makes a large idol filled with gold and tells Shadrach, Meshach and Abednego to bow down.

When they refuse, Nebuchdadnezzar casts down Shadrach, Meshach and Abednego into a fiery pit, where the come out unscratched.

King is using this reference in the bible to say that even though the people who put him in jail did so, they can’t harm him.
