O quam te memorem virgo
Translates to “O, how should I call you, virgin?” A direct quote from Virgil’s Aeneid.
The epigraph hints at the speaker’s desire to interpret his personal situation through literature. Aeneas is here addressing Aphrodite (goddess of love), which also demonstrates the speaker’s desire to separate himself from personal romantic involvement.
