Gatsby meeting Daisy was Fate’s away of telling him that he didn’t belong in the wealthy, East Egg society. Gatsby met Daisy, the love of his life, by pretending to be someone he wasn’t. Gatsby put on a wealthy facade to gain Daisy’s attention, yet he had her taken away by Tom because he was accidentally enrolled in Oxford, the place of wealthy elites. The irony of this situation is proof that Gatsby’s dreams of fitting in to the East Egg society were never meant to be completed.
